Hakushu 12 Year old Single Malt Whisky (pronounced Hack-shoo) is slightly more delicate version of Japanese whisky produced by Suntory. Hakushu is named after the location of its distillery in the foothills of the Yamanashi Mountains in the Southern Japanese Alps. The secret to the Hakushu’s gentle mouthfeel and intertwined flavours of green apples, ground mustard, and mint lies in the distillery’s multiple sets of copper pot stills, the two varieties of oak used for the ageing barrels (American and Spanish sherry), and the naturally filtered crystalline underground water—the last of which originally dictated the forest location of the distillery. Bottled at 43%ABV , this 12 year old single malt from the Land of the Rising Sun is crisp and slightly smoky. Gift boxed and now becoming very rare and hard to find.

Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different to those of Scotland to create a unique kind of whisky. The Yamazaki Distillery is thus the birthplace of Japanese whisky. Nestled proudly on the periphery of Kyoto, this region was formerly referred to as "Minaseno", where one of the purest waters of Japan originates. Straight from the untouched forests, mountains and pure waters of the Southern Japanese Alps, it is no wonder that Hakushu is a "green and fresh" whisky, praised by the most curious whisky connoisseurs and lovers of gastronomy. Its crisp and vibrant feel, unique in a single malt whisky, enlivens and liberates your senses.
