Heineken brewery was established in Amsterdam in 1864 and today Heineken is a huge multinational company, one of the three largest beer producers in the world. Throughout its history, Heineken remained by and large family company, with Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken as its biggest stockholder and her husband Michel on the company’s board. Heineken’s rich and successful history has been presented in their old defunct brewery in Amsterdam, with several amusement park attractions added to the exhibit and renamed as Amsterdam Heineken Experience.

Cognac is a variety of distilled brandy named after the town of Cognac in France. It is produced in the wine-growing region surrounding the town from which it takes its name.  For a distilled brandy to bear the name Cognac, its production methods must meet certain requirements. In particular, it must be made from specified grapes, of which Ugni Blanc (known locally as Saint-Emilion) is the one most widely used.  The brandy must be twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged at least two years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Troncais.

According to Mexican law, all Tequila must contain at least 51% Weber blue agave (Agave Tequilana). Really good Tequila is 100% Weber blue agave and will be clearly marked on the bottle with the law requiring them to be produced, bottled and inspected in Mexico. Tequila that is not 100% agave is called mixto because it is blended with sugar and water during distillation. Mixto Tequilas can be produced outside of Mexico. Until a few years ago, mixtos were the main Tequilas produced. However, majority of the Tequila you find is the Tequila 100% de Agave.
