San Pietro Pinot Noir

$21.00
Pinot Noir is picked at 13.8 Baume. Two clones of Pinot Noir are grown on our Mornington Peninsula vineyard, MV6 60% and 115 40%. Care in the vineyard is matched in the winery with grapes being fermented slowly with extended grape skin contact. The winery works day and night, hand plunging the cap of skins back into the fermenting juice. The colour deepens, the perfume rises, and juice becomes wine, made fine and strong with tannins slowly extracted from the skins. The wine is matured in selected French barriques for 15 months , 15% of the oak being new. The wine is hand bottled with minimal filtration, ready to be enjoyed. This Pinot Noir punches well above its weight. Intense varietal characters of berry and forest floor. Round palate balanced with fine, almost creamy tannin finish.

Heirloom Barossa Shiraz

$30.00
The aroma is an astonishing and lifted brace of blackberries, spice and even a perfume like touch of blueberries. Pure fruit and spice that is not in any way overwhelmed by winemaking artifact. The wine has a concentration of aromas that come from not over-ripe fruits. The smells change quickly in the glass and are fascinating to follow but the mouth beckons. There is quite a remarkable entry to the palate. A seamless soft but structured shiraz, lots of blackberries again for sure but also a mid-palate dark chocolate spice that whooshes through the mouth that you want to slow it down and check it out. There is some cream and spice from the French Oak and an almost chalk like tannin structure but it's all about the pure fruit.

Jones Road Pinot Noir

$32.00
Tasting Notes Plenty of fine pinot character and complexity with spicy forest berry, red cherry, cocoa powder and a handsome layer of fine-grained savoury French oak woven throughout. The palate is supple, lithe and even with layered tannins holding crunchy red cherry flavour in elegant, gently curved shape. Terrific balance and resolve – cherry stone finish. Viticulture: This area of Pinot was selected for our premium label as it had provided outstanding flavours in the past. The vines were cane pruned and restricted to 20 buds. Trained to a VSP open canopy, to provide sunlight & air movement through the canopy. Minimal watering was used and bunch numbers restricted. The grapes were picked relatively early on 3rd March as soon as the berries developed the required flavour profile.

Majella Shiraz

$40.00
The Majella Shiraz first appeared in 1991 and has since acquired a reputation as one of Coonawarra's finest Shiraz's. A deep ruby red colour with a bright damson hue. fragrant ripe dark red fruits with vanillin aromas. A supple palate with luscious dark berries and dark chocolate with touches of clove, cinnamon and black pepper. Fine textured tannins lead to a long and evenly balanced finish. As is usual here at Majella the fermentation was completed in 300 litre barrels and the wine was then aged for a further 18 months in a blend of French and American oak. We present it as a great example of Coonawarra Shiraz at its very best. Ageing potential: 5 - 10 years.
