Domaine Bouchard Pere and Fils La Vignee Bourgogne Chardonnay
This lovely Bourgogne Blanc really impressed us last week when we tasted through the Bouchard Pere et Fils range from Burgundy, France. We loved the slight saline mineral characters running through the frisky yet flavoursome white peach and pear fruit infused with a drizzle of honeysuckle and light nutty oak cashew inputs. The oak is pretty well in the background as it receives only 25% barrel ferment with the rest matured in stainless steel for approximately 6 months.
At this price, I couldn’t think of a better affordable introduction to the joys of French Chardonnay and White Burgundy!

Description
Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy, perpetuating traditions for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations.
In 1775, Joseph Bouchard acquired the first vines in Volnay in the famous climat of “Caillerets”, and began to build the family estate. His son, Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard, seized the opportunity of the sale of the property of the clergy and the nobility confiscated during the French Revolution to extend the estate with the purchase of several plots in Beaune, including the famous “Beaune Grèves Vigne de the Child Jesus”.
The ambition to create an exceptional estate in the Côte d’Or crosses generations and new acquisitions in the most beautiful villages are added throughout the 19th century and again during the 20th.
