Seductive Black Forest cake and spicy kirsch aromas, support a rich, fleshy medium to full bodied wine, hallmarks of Nero d’Avola.

Vineyard Information:
Premium grapes were sourced from our Zerella Family Vineyards in McLaren Vale from a vineyard that sits at an altitude of 44 mtrs above sea level. Nero d’Avola was grafted to 2.64 acres of Merlot in 2011 and all fruit was hand harvested.

Winemaking Notes:
Nero d’Avola (Black of Avola) a native grape variety to Southern Italy, also thrives on the McLaren Vale coast on a sundrenched site in sandy soils. The Nero d’Avola grapes were hand harvested, destemmed only, no whole bunch, and cold soaked at 8ºC for five days before being allowed to warm naturally for fermentation. Then a long slow fermentation for 20 days on skins before being pressed off to 18% new French Oak Barrels and matured for 15 months on lees before being racked to blend and bottled with out finings and filtration.
