Tokar Estate Coldstream Vineyard Pinot Noir

The wine is deep ruby and vibrant in appearance. The nose is lifted and bright, showing a complex mix of sour cherry, orange spray, cardamon, apple and rhubarb. On the palate, the wine is bursting with flavour with a sweet mid-palate and driven with fresh citrus-like acidity. The flavours are tangerine, cherry and milk chocolate and the tannins are fine and silky. With age, the fruit-driven palate will become more savoury with mushroom and forest floor characters coming to the fore.

Description
The Gruyere sub-region of the Yarra Valley where Tokar Estate sits, produces a more savoury, dark fruited and structured Pinot Noir than other parts of the Yarra Valley. Our Pinot Noir is made from the fruit of the two Pinot blocks at the entrance of Tokar Estate, planted in 1996 and 1998. The main difference between the blocks is the orientation, Pinot A faces West whilst Pinot B faces East. From one we get structure and power and the other provides prettiness. Both blocks are Pinot clone MV6 and are spur pruned on VSP trellis.
Ablaze with spices and flowery nuances on the bouquet, the palate long and silky smooth, red berries through to the finish. Delicious. James Halliday
