A zesty, food-friendly white from one of Australia’s leading producers of Italian grape varieties. Lifted and aromatic, it brings together lime, sea spray, lychee and grapefruit blossom with a salty mineral texture and energetic freshness.
The Chalmers family imported this clone of Vermentino directly from Italy in the late 1990s and produced its first Australian vintage in 2004. Since then, Vermentino has become a trademark Chalmers wine and an enduring benchmark for the variety in Australia.
Its ability to retain freshness, clean aromatics and moderate alcohol in Heathcote’s warm climate made Vermentino an early focus for the family. The result is a vivid dry white with cool-climate poise, Mediterranean savouriness and plenty of personality.
The 2025 vintage delivered healthy fruit with good flavour development and excellent retained freshness. The grapes were pressed and wild fermented in tank, preserving the purity, fragrance and natural energy of the variety.
Lifted aromas of lime cordial, sea spray, lychee and grapefruit blossom lead into a moreish, zesty palate. Minerality sits at the fore, with a salty mid-palate texture and lively freshness carrying the wine through a crisp, savoury finish.
This is a racy, characterful alternative to Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris, sitting firmly in the classic dry-white zone while offering extra spice, zip and Mediterranean flair.
Its saline texture and zipping freshness make it a natural partner for freshly shucked oysters, seafood and Vietnamese noodle salad.
